Anna Maria Island and Sarasota Bay
Today Team R & R Charters took out Bill Nelson of Bradenton. The wind was blowing pretty strong this morning and we were working with a quick out going tide. The bite was slow in the early hours, pulling in a lot of small trout. We were using hand picked shrimp and it seemed like we were feeding the pin fish more than we were catching. Bill kept fishing live bait while I started throwing some artificial baits. I threw some DOA’S for a bit and caught a couple, but Bill was still catching trout every other cast on the live shrimp. In fact his first 4 casts he went 4 for 4.
I then switched over to an X-Rap. I started to catch up with Bill but the live bait still seemed to work the best. We moved to another one of my favorite holes and it proved to be a struggle. The wind started to lay down a little but the water was so clear you had to be in super stealth mode. I new then that it was going to take all my skills as a captain to put some fish in the boat. At 11 am we moved to my biggest producing spot and told Bill that I hope he was ready to catch some fish. I know a bold statement but I was determined.
At this point we still had not put any fish in the box. Well the tone on my watch said it was 11 am and then Bill calls out fish on!!! Then I hooked up, then Bill again and again. This is what it is all about. We ended the day around 1 pm limiting out on Sea Trout. We also got into a school of Jacks, that is always fun on light tackle. Bill also caught a Bonet Shark, you should have seen his eyes as it stripped line off of his reel. A tough day at the begining but at the end of the day we put fish in the box and had a great time doing it. I hope to see you out on the water or give me a call and we can go out together.
