Light tackle fun!

York River Charters - 10/11/2012

The much anticipated fall run of large Spot and Croaker has been somewhat sporadic in the York River. However, the York’s northern neighbor, Mobjack Bay and it’s tributaries, has been producing awesome catches of Speckled Trout and “puppy” Red Drum.

The Specks, with keepers running 18 to 23 inches,  have been caught on both popper/jig combinations in addition to top water plugs. The Reds, running 12 to 16 inches with an occasional 18 inch keeper mixed in, have hit almost everything thrown at them! Fishing for both on light spinning gear has provided our charters with hours of fun. On one recent trip a party noted they boated 8 puppy Drum in 11 casts.

Tight lines,

Capt Alan
