Cape Cod Bay / Deep water
Today we beat the winds and drizzle. We left the dock at 7am, with “Team Western Mass” and headed straight to the south edge of the shoals. We set out a purple (H-Bomb) and red jig and started to rake the bottom. The only thing we found was lots of “mung”. We then got word from Capt Donny that the bite was in deep water, so off to the square. Well at 50 feet we found the fish and every other boat in the bay !! We tossed out the rigs, orange with silver spoons and white with silver spoons. We hit for two quick knock downs, however lost one deep off the back and another at the boat. We continued to work the square and finally landed one in the boat…keeper. We continued to fished the rigs , however the bite died, so we re-deployed the jigs (red/purple) and we started hooking up….we hit for 4 nice keepers and somehow found a big bluefish swimming in the area and put him in the box.
At 1145 we called it a day and headed home with that nice brisk NE wind on our tail. Upon arrival at Northside Marina, we grabbed some pics of our victory…… then we cleaned, bagged and iced down the fish for there trip to western Mass.
If you would like to get out, give me a call and we will make it happen. Please follow us on facebook as well as our web site for all of our pics. Stay safe, and think screaming drags !!!!
