Strathmere Beach Fishing

capt.frank - 05/28/2012

Hit the beach early this morning with John and Rich.  We caught the last of the outgoing tide and turn.  Perfect weather; warm, slight breeze, and enough cloud cover to keep the sun manageable.  The water was comfortably warm too (I forgot my waders).  We set out 4 rods with Clams, and one rod with my killer Kingfish rig and Bloodworm.  The Kingfish rig struck first with a really nice big Kingfish.  A bit later I got another Kingie.  We switched all but one rod over to the Kingfish rigs and Bloodworms.  The Clams never got a touch.  Go figure, the past few weeks you couldn’t put a Clam in the water without hanging a Striper.  Anyway, we managed just one more Kingfish and a Silver Perch, and 30 or so tiny, baby Doggies.  The big mommys of the past few weeks left us hungry little gifts.  We tried the Perch and a Kingie head as bait, but no takers.  The best action was on the falling tide.  Once the tide started in, the Doggies were all over the Bloodworms.  We called it a day around 11Am in hopes of beaqting the Shoobie traffic.  Yea, that didn’t happen…

Fun Day out!  Tight Lines!  And Thank You to all of our Veterans and those serving!!!

I run guided fishing trips in the waters of Cape May County, NJ by boat or from land. By boat I fish the back bays, ocean, and Delaware Bay with 1-3 anglers onboard. I will also take any number of anglers out onto the beach to surf fish, or out and about in the back bays to fish the sod banks and other structure. Families and children are always welcome! My company motto is: We Go Where The Fish Are!
