Eastern Long Island Sound bass fishing

Captain Mike - 09/14/2011

49 1/2 inch bass

Had two recent trips this past week.  The first was on Friday Night and it was a beatiful clear night with light winds.  We found some very dirty water so we headed East and found some fishable water.  We fished in thight to shore and worked various shoreline structure.  We started the night with a bluefish chopping on our eels and a schoolie.  We continued to fish an eel that had been bitten in half and sure enough we hooked up and landed a skinny 49 inch bass that was a hair under 40lbs.  After this we continued to land another half dozen bass up to 15lbs and also had some more bluefish take our eels and plugs.

Our second trip was on 9/12/11.  We headed out for a 4 hour trip from 8pm to 12 am and had a bright full moon.  We had better action this trip landing 14 bass from schoolie size up to 17lbs with most of the fish being in the low 30 inch range.  No cows this trip but still a great night for light tackle fishing.
