Capt Ed Lawreance - 07/10/2011

It’s been a rather slow Spring, pretty much as we thought it would be, and now we’re entering the Hot months and things are what one would expect. Stripers have been somewhat scarce but early in the AM you can find some under the piers and shallow areas and every now and again you get a surprise. We’ve had quite a few small Specks with a few decent size fish in the mix but it’s been pretty hit or miss. Some days pretty good and some not so much.
I’ve had some very interesting tag recaptures from this Winters fishing in the notorious Hot Ditch. Had 1 little Speck recaptured in the lower Potomac, 1 in Fleets Bay/Dividing Ck., and 1 in our own North River.

Have not seen any Reds down this way yet but there have been a very few caught in other places. Croaker numbers are down as far as the nice fish go and there are some Snapper Blues about. I’ll be fishing as much as possible the next couple of weeks so we’ll see how things progress. The middle of August last year was the turning point and we had a GREAT Fall. I’m very hopeful that will happen again this year.
