Capt. Rich Knox of Absolute Florida Flats Fishing and guide service reports excellent nearshore reef and wreck fishing the past couple of week’s with the flats water temperatures approaching 90*F, bait spawn returning and tanic stained rain run-off,  on the inshore flats fishing scene, 1/2 day fishing charters off the beach’s have been producing up to 50 fish day’s.  There also is a nice variety from Spanish Mackerel, King-Fish, Bonito, Grey snapper, Gag and Red grouper and the occasional Cobia,  plenty of line screaming Reef shark’s from 2′ new born’s to 6′ bruiser’s 100 lbs.  These fishing guide trips require a variety of bait that mostly can be obtained on your way out, with sabiki rig’s, some cut baits from the local tackle store,  and a quick stop in the early morning to cast net up some pilchard’s and pinfish. The most productive areas have been in 25′ to 50′ of water depending on what you are targeting,  the weather has been very good with gentle morning breeze’s till mid-day heat, the deep-sea fishing water temp’s are 85*F making the fishing very comfortable. Check out the calm,  clear waters in the accompanying photo’s !  Take home plenty of some of the best eating fish in the Florida Gulf Coast off Tarpon Spring’s.
