Grand Slam in Cape Cod Bay

capt.mark - 05/29/2012

Today (Monday) as they say was a grand slam. We left the dock with Shamus, Ziggy, Liam and John and we  headed right to the south edge of Billingates Shoals. Yesterday we hammered them there, so we were hoping the same. We cleared the dock and couldn’t see the end of the channel. On went the radar and we settled in for a safe trip out.

Upon our arrival we found stripers crashing the surface. Out came the casting gear.  We tossed pink and white slugos at them but they disappeared before we knew it. We set out the umbrella rigs and bang…TIGHT !!! Our first fish…32 inch striper. While getting the gear ready Ziggy hit for a 36 inch on a pink slugo.
We then started to hunt for some top water action and boy did we find them. We had good size bass busting five from the boat….and the spreads were  at least 500 yards wide and long of fish breaking.

We continued to toss the slugos and also mixed in some surface plugs which did the trick.

All in all we had a unbelievable day. We caught our limit then we were tossing back 30-35 inch stripers.  All of our fishing was on Billingate Shoals…

If you would like to get out and do some fishing, please give me a call and we will make it happen. Follow us on Face book and our web site for our photos and comments during our season

Stay safe and think screaming drags !!
