Long Island Sound Report

Captain Mike - 09/28/2011

Lots happening over the past week in Long Island Sound.  Early last week I spent some time surf fishing at night in the Western Long Island Sound and we had bass of 20lbs and 30lbs.  Over the weekend I was back on the boat off Stratford, CT and found lots of bait including peanut bunker and a crab hatch and lots of 10lb to 12lb blues that where willing to crush a top water spook.  Sunday’s trip brought me to Stonington, CT and we found some albies on the Connecticut side before heading to Montauk where we found more schools of albies.  The albies where being finicky and the amount of boat traffic certainly didn’t help us. However, they will take small soft plastics.  I expect the fishing to improve over the next couple of weeks. This is the time to get out and fish!  If you are interested in a charter now is the time to book one before its too late!
