Saturday on the Sound

Long Run Fishing Charters - 05/30/2011

Saturday I had out the father and son tandem of Jim and Anthony F as this was their first time fishing the western sound. We ran out of New Rochelle in search of Bunker and we found them off City Island. One throw of the net and we had 20 pieces in the livewell and another 20-30 pieces for the cooler for chunk baits. We headed off to the mid-sound area in search of bunker schools being harassed but found lots of bunker but nothing chewing on them. We did drop some live baits around a few schools only to get a few small bluefish to bite their tails off well below the hook placement.

We dropped anchor on a few pieces but the tide dropped off so we headed further east and decided to troll Stretch 25 Plugs and Yo-zuri deep divers. We found some marks, and nailed a 29 inch Striped Bass and then it was Bluefish city and the plugs took a serious beating. Around noon time the bite dropped off completely and the wind picked and we headed to the barn
